The Penta Oil Varnish Stain is best for:
New Surfaces:
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, grease, oil, and any other debris. Fill any cracks, holes, or crevices with an appropriate wood filler. Sand the filled areas smooth with abrasive paper to create a firm, even surface.
Previously Varnished Surfaces:
Remove all loose, semi-adherent, peeling, blistering, or cracked varnish, along with dirt, dust, grease, wax, oil, and other contaminants. Fill any cracks or holes with wood filler, then sand the surface smooth and even with abrasive paper.
For Fungus-Infected Areas:
Treat affected areas with diluted liquid household bleach. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely.
Application Instructions:

New Surfaces: Apply a sealing coat of Penta Clear Varnish, thinned up to 10% with Thinner 41.

Gloss Finish: Follow with 2-3 coats of Penta Varnish Stain.
Additional Notes:

Allow varnish to dry overnight between coats, sanding lightly with fine abrasive paper in between.

If Clear Gloss Varnish is not used as a sealer, white discoloration may occur in Satin or Matte finishes.
